McKinney, Texas - Adith Srinivasan is just eight years old and in the second grade, but his math skills put him well ahead of other students nearly two grade levels above him.
At this year’s National Noetic Learning Math Contest, Adith received a perfect score and received first place out of the more than 750 students who competed.
“Adith is a very gifted child, it is wonderful to see his advanced math skills improve and grow into accomplishments at the national level. His mind needs to be challenged constantly and advanced math enables him to accomplish that goal,” said his Riddle Street teacher Munira Shaikh.
The Noetic Learning Math Contest hosted more than 3,500 students from 123 schools for an online competition against the clock. The questions are more advanced than a regular math test and are geared towards gifted and high-achieving students. Only six students received a perfect score on their tests.
“I like math because it makes me think,” said eight year old Adith.
A student at Riddle Street Montessori for the Gifted and Talented, Adith enjoys math, language arts and science and his goal is to be a Ph.D in Math when he grows up.
